Wildlife Corridors

Wildlife corridors are areas of habitat that connect fragmented ecosystems, allowing animals to move between them, after human activity and man-made structures such as roads have caused the initial fragmentation. These corridors allow for colonisation, migration, and interbreeding by animals, enabling their natural behaviour to take place. They also help to maintain biodiversity, facilitate gene flow, and enhance species resilience to climate change and habitat loss. Since they are a useful tool in maintaining ecological balance, conservation strategies often include the establishment and protection of wildlife corridors.
